Welcome back to The Questionable Garage! I’m Jared, and today we’re dragging something out of the barn—literally—and into the shop. This episode, we tackle a crusty, dusty, poop-covered 1975 Ford F100 Custom that’s been sitting in various barns for 25 years. It’s been swapped between properties more than it’s ever moved under its own power. And while I didn’t technically buy this one, I did temporarily “borrow” it from a friend who’s been meaning to get it running again for decades. So I figured… why not surprise him?

We thought this would be a fun, quick revival. You know, fire it up where it sits, throw in a little starter fluid, maybe some questionable decisions—and boom! Running truck. But there was a giant problem. Actually, several.

First: the truck was parked in a cattle barn. On a mountain of manure. Which meant no way was I crawling under it for a field revival.

Second: once we got it back to the shop and wiped off about a quarter-inch of dust and twenty-five years of nature, we realized this Ford wasn’t a 1971 like I thought—it’s a 1975 with a 302 Windsor V8… and it’s completely locked up.

Third: this engine isn’t just stuck. It’s crunchy. It’s crusty. It’s got science projects growing in the cylinders. Turns out sitting for a quarter-century—even covered—still lets in moisture. So yeah, no miracle revivals this time. We’re talking full teardown.

In this episode, we walk through the inspection process, pull the plugs, peek into the abyss of cylinder death, and end up ripping the heads off Colonel Mustard (the truck, not an actual colonel). We also do a full deep clean of the body, scraping off literal tree sap glaciers and decades of barn grime. It’s not running, but it is shiny(ish) now!

Along the way we talk ignition modules, Ford Duraspark II, air filters made from paint can lids, and the true emotional cost of reviving someone else’s barn truck. Spoiler: it’s not just financial.

If you like a good old-fashioned project spiral, full of rust, rodents, and the smell of pine-scented regrets, this one’s for you. Because sometimes you don’t find out a revival is hopeless until you’re already ankle-deep in sap and piston flakes.

And yes… we’re getting another engine.
